Prouvé stool
In 2011, Vitra presented reinterpreted pieces of furniture by French designer and architect Jean Prouvé. Together with the Dutch fashion brand G-Star, nine designs were produced in series. Some of them were so successful that they were included in the permanent collection of Vitra – including the Tabouret Solvay stool.
The collaboration between the two brands grew out of their shared passion for Jean Prouvé. The Frenchman, a great exponent of classical modernism, was rediscovered, including some lesser-known designs. In this way, reinterpretations were created that retain the classic design of Jean Prouvé, but have a fresh and contemporary look & feel.
Design stool in solid wood
Tabouret Solvay is a simple, sturdy stool made of solid wood, which you can see the design hand at first sight: Jean Prouvé designed it in his typical way according to constructive points of view. Thanks to its flat seat, the Tabouret Solvay can also be used as a side table. The designer piece is made of solid oak treated with oil, while the steel connecting element creates an exciting contrast to the wood.
