The Grand Sofà from Vitra is a design by the Italian Antonio Citterio , who has placed particular emphasis on luxurious comfort and contemporary design in his work. This combines Italian flair for lightness and elegance of the designer with the quality and precision typical of the Swiss company Vitra .

Backrest with shelf

Generous elements form expansive seating and reclining platforms that provide excellent comfort. Nevertheless, thanks to its filigree and light construction, the Grand Sofà does not appear overloaded at all: A slender, double-angled, fabric-covered body forms cascading seats, backrests and a rear ledge. This is supported at two points each under the seat and behind the backrest by a bridge-like aluminum base that allows it to float freely above the floor.

Freely arranged in the room, the sofa can thus also be used as a small desk by simply placing a chair on the back. In addition, the ledge can also be used as a practical shelf for books, magazines and accessories. For items that need a little more stability, the matching tray tray with edges angled to fit the ledge is also suitable.

With and without stitching on the cushions

The seat and back cushions from Grand Sofà are available with or without stitching – so-called capitulations. Both versions offer exceptional comfort with their high-quality, soft filling. However, the style differs: the classic cushions are visually calm and very restrained, while the cushions with stitching provide a slightly more playful appearance and give Grand Sofà a handcrafted touch.

Grand Sofà Is available in a curated selection of fabrics in a wide variety of hues. Together with the different elements, backrest positioning options, cushion finishes and base options in polished, or black or white powder-coated aluminum, this opens up a wide range of possibilities for composing individual seating landscapes.
