Low futon bed

Futon bed Japan by Karup Design impresses with its minimalist look and Far Eastern design. Inspired by the Japanese futon and tatami rooms, Karup Design has designed a low bed made of pine wood that is modern and timeless at the same time.

Japanese tradition

The futon is, in a broader sense, the Japanese sleeping space. It consists of a mattress filled with cotton, which is spread on the floor composed of tatami mats. Tatami is a mat made of rice straw, which is spread out as a floor in traditional Japanese rooms and serves as a base for the futon. In the Western world, the futon is a very low, simple bed frame with a mattress, the actual futon.

The Japan bed from Karup Design consists of a frame with eight feet that floats about 20 cm above the floor. It is made of sustainable pine wood and is available in various lacquers.
