Design classic by Eileen Gray
The adjustable table E 1027 stems from the design of the Irish-Scottish designer Eileen Gray, whose design is referred to as the “Epitome of modernity”. That puts her in a group consisting of Mies van der Rohe, Marcel Breuer and Le Corbusier. Since 1978 the adjustable table has been a fixed part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York – at the latest since then, the side table by Eileen Gray is one of the most well-known design classics in the area of home design.
Even back in the 1920s, Eileen Gray began to experiment with variations of the design of the adjustable table. The table was finally ready to be produced in the 1970s, initially in the chrome-plated version. With the black version the long envisaged vision of an elegant alternative to its classic version then became reality.
With the name affix E 1027, Eileen Gray has added a particularly personal note to her design draft, which unites her and her life partner Jean Badovici: E stands for Eileen, 10 for J(EAN) (J as the 10th letter of the alphabet), 2 for B(adovici) and 7 for G(ray).
High-quality classic materials
The look of the adjustable table E 1027 is as simple as it is classic and combines high-quality materials: the frame is made of powder-coated steel tubing. The round table top comes in different versions. The table can be used flexibly due to the fact that the frame is height adjustable, and allows you to combine it with a wide variety of different pieces of furniture: as a classic side table, a bedside table or shelf next to the bed, as a small telephone table, or for other uses. The Adjustable Table is a versatile classic that delights equally through its form and function.
The steel tube painted in matt black emphasises the geometric shape and reduced lines and creates a particularly elegant atmosphere in the living room.
The Adjustable Table E1027 is available on request in the classic chrome-coloured version with three different glass plates.
