The reissued CH22 chair is manufactured exactly according to the original drawings by Hans J. Wegener from 1950 and thus inspires with a simple appearance. The combination of high quality materials and first-class craftsmanship make the CH22 chair to a special seating furniture with haptic quality.

Handcrafted details

Sensual details, executed with the finest craftsmanship, such as the frame of the seat connected with finger zinc, the wedge elements between the chair legs, backrest and armrest, as well as the seat woven from paper yarn, testify to a unique sensitivity and first-class craftsmanship, which are combined in the design of the CH22 unite.

Although certain aspects of the production process have been modernized, the armchair is still made in the same way as it was back in 1950: from the assembly of the frame to the surface treatment and the weaving of the seat, the CH22 handcrafted by highly specialized artisans.

Colors & Materials

The CH22 chair from Carl Hansen is available in different finishes: in oak or walnut or in a combination of both woods, as well as with a seat woven from paper yarn in natural or black, the classic wooden chair is multifaceted and classic at the same time, so that it fits harmoniously into different interiors.

New color palette in cooperation with Ilse Crawford

To celebrate Hans J. Wegner’s more than 70 years of collaboration with Carl Hansen & Søn, the Danish label has teamed up with renowned London designer Ilse Crawford to create a new color palette for the first five chairs Wegner created for Carl Hansen & Søn in 1950.

The result is a multi-faceted reinterpretation of Wegner’s CH22 , CH 23, CH24, CH25 and CH26 chairs, whose timelessness is further emphasized by the new, rich colors. Alluding to the rugged beauty of the Nordic landscape, each color has a slightly transparent finish that allows the grain of the oak wood to shine through.
