The CH 07 shell chair is a classic for life. The wide and soft curved seat shell looks inviting as well as minimalistic – a characteristic that predestines the classic lounge chair for many purposes.

Designer Hans J. Wegner also drew inspiration from classic forms for his CH 07 shell chair. He transformed these into a timeless lounge chair – a true Carl Hansen armchair. While the slender shape signals lightness and does not look cluttered even in small rooms, the three legs set design accents and ensure uniqueness.

The CH 07 – a sculptural shell chair

Due to its shell shape, the classic chair designed in 1963 is also known as the “Shell Chair”. Initially, the sculptural chair was probably ahead of its time, as it was celebrated by the trade press, while buyers, on the contrary, were rather reluctant. Eventually, prices for used copies rose to considerable heights, and in 1998, Carl Hansen decided to produce the classic again.

Carl Hansen manufactures the CH 07 shell chair from compression-molded plywood. The chair is also available on request with upholstered seat shell and backrest with textile or leather cover.
